St. Martin, March 8th, 2010 – Safara, Andrews 72’, was a two time winner in the recent St. Martin 2010 Heineken Regatta winning overall class for Non Spinnaker 1 and winning the Trophy for the Fastest Non Spinnaker Around the Island Race.   

Safara was under charter from Northrop and Johnson Yacht Charters, Newport, RI, proving that yes, chartered yachts can win class and trophies at performance regattas.

Grant, the founder of well-known Fort Lauderdale catering and crew placement firm Culinary Fusion, will serve as Director of Crew Solutions for the international yacht owner advocacy firm.

Maintaining a dry bilge aboard a 103' Destiny Class 1967 Camper & Nicholson can be hard work.  That's why John Leder, captain of Blue Guitar recently upgraded its Arid Bilge System to now include 1/4" pickup tubes and an Eco Friendly Discharge Companion.  This increases the system's capacity from 6-1/2 to 17 gallons an hour and helps lessen the craft's impact on the environment, while also keeping the original module active.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida (March 23rd, 2009) – Bradford Marine, Inc. is pleased to announce that the 130’ Westport Motoryacht MUSTANG SALLY is the winner of Bradford Marine's Free Bottom Paint Job raffle held at the Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show.  The prize consisted of hauling, pressure cleaning, and painting the bottom of the winning yacht, and the Company had many captains, owners, and brokers visit them at the show and enter their boats for the raffle.

S.U.D.S. Flea Market Party will be held to benefit Soldiers Undertaking Disabled Scuba on March 13 and 14 at the Downtowner Saloon on the New River in Fort Lauderdale.

Join the flea market staff, South Florida Divers and the training staff and soldiers of S.U.D.S. from 8-11p.m on March 13. Tickets for the buffet are available at 800.PLAN FUN and at the S.U.D.S. Flea Market the day of the event for $30 per person. A limited amount of seats are available.

Join MIASF “Where Green Meets Blue” at 33rd Annual Waterway Cleanup Saturday, March 6

MIASF’s 33rd Annual Waterway Cleanup. The event is organized and sponsored by the Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF) with support from local businesses, government agencies and civic organizations. Waterway Cleanup is a one-day event that attracts 2,000 – 3,000 volunteers and 100 boats throughout South Florida to clean up the waterways in Broward County.

Mike Joyce, CEO of Ft. Lauderdale, FL based Hargrave Custom Yachts said that the recent Miami Yacht & Brokerage Show was a success for his company which specializes in custom built fiberglass yachts in the 70’ – 130’ size range.

“The pattern of this show was different from anything we had experienced in the past” said Joyce. “We were disappointed on Thursday, depressed on Friday morning, and then for no obvious reason, the show began to steadily build momentum. Sunday is normally filled with families out with the kids but turned out to be our best day of the show!”

February 5, 2010 – Port Moody, British Columbia:  Experienced sailor and environmental friend Alexia Barrier has just set sail on her Scientific World Solo Tour aptly named  “4myplanet” .  French native, 29 year old Alexia began her voyage in the early afternoon of January 11, 2010 leaving from the Monaco Yacht Club and will take her to Cape Town, South Africa then to Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and New York City, returning to Monaco by mid-May 2010.

Monaco Marine, as part of its continuing emphasis on improved environmental practice, has decided to act to compensate the carbon emissions in its La Ciotat shipyard, through Yacht Carbon Offset. The Shipyard now invites all superyacht clients to Carbon Offset the electricity used during their time in the yard through a small contribution.

 Monaco Marine will itself Carbon Offset a corresponding amount of electricity used for its activities and operations at the shipyard.
